Theology of the Compost Pile
The theology of the compost pile is something that i learned when i was at seminary atPrinceton. The first time nat stoke, the director of the parminary, invited my cohort of students out to the compost pile, i thought it was disgusting. But nate told us to dig around in the compos pile and look for signs of new life. And that taught me that there is an opportunity to steward death well when death happens,. Not erasing the pain, not erasing the brutality, but knowledging both it and the possibilities that still remain afterwards.
