How to Measure the Distance Between Us and Two Neutron Stars
The gravitational wiggle wave from two neutron stars crashing can tell how far away it is. It tells us the distance between us and where those two neutron stars crash but what does that tell us about everything else? Well if you know where it was in space you know which galaxy those neutron stars were in so you can point to that galaxy and say oh it was in this galaxy and now we know how far away that galaxy is.
