The Evolution of Consciousness
It seems like there's varying parts of the brain that are involved in varying degrees to our experience of consciousness. Is it right to say that lower order animals in that case aren't conscious? Have you got any idea whether or not other animals are conscious? Do they meet a threshold or a test by which you would be happy to say that they are? There's lots of areas where we might want to test for consciousness because well firstly as soon as something is conscious it has some sort of moral status and ethical status.
