Social anxiety is the fear of being scrutinized, judged and found lacking in social or performance situations that gets in the way of doing things you want to do. The truth is we live in an extremely judgmental culture; it's very hard to pretend that we don't. Oftentimes, not always, but often our anxiety is disproportionate to the actual judgment.
