The Importance of Syntactic Capacity in Learning Objectives

Jeffrey Toobin: The idea of children are solely a product of predicting the next word or the prediction surely has to be a part of it. He says that by 100% of the explainable variance, you can predict brain activations in some cases just as well as language areas. But he argues that even if your predictions are reflecting these mechanisms, they're probably not very accurate. Toobin: I don't know too much about the syntactic capacities of one and a half year olds, two years olds, but we'll have to wait and see.
