There's no normal or typical age to get self-regulation. It's a very much of a process. And I think that we, although children have it more as they age in general, there are many adults who have difficulties with self- regulation. So why I talk about it in the book so much is because I believe that the best pathway we can do, regardless of our child's age, is to go back and think about how did they process us, our voices, our movements? How did they process their environment, washing hair, eating food, riding in a car, buckled in a car seat?"
