Trans People and Queer Friendly Spaces in America Are Threatened by the Far Right

Amara Jones: LGBTQ plus public spaces in America have become increasingly weaponized by far right extremists who are hostile to that community. Threats include bomb threats, armed paramilitary groups showing up to queer events, online bullying and the deadly November 19 mass shooting at the club Q in Colorado Springs. Much of the anti-LGBTQ plus rhetoric has been fueled by Christian nationalist think tanks like the Heritage Foundation which are provided conservative lawmakers across the country with blueprints for anti-trans legislation.
