I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding or at least I've got a misunderstanding around this notion of instruction. Most people when they talk about instruction or direct instruction are thinking of one thing and you're saying it's actually something else. So for me, he thinks there are a range of pedagogical models available to us as coaches. But what's happened in sport coaching particularly is if we go into the gym of John Wooden with Tharp and Galimor trying to understand what they can learn from him. They found that his behavior was largely instructional, about 60% of it was instructional. That really became the basis of direct instruction in that space. It's a cluster of behaviors
