Castration of Black African Slavery
As I understand it, the type of castration that's carried out for slaves to come into the Ottoman Empire is very full castration. This is where the testicles are removed, but actually, but actually the penis is removed as well. The operation is performed with a single sweep of the knife and then they're buried in sand - thought to be relatively sterile. And there it is said there was a 90% mortality now.
