Jackie Stewart's Fear of Death
Jackie Stewart's last race was a non-race because his teammate Yacrent died in qualifying for that race. Sid Watkins tried to talk him into retiring but he thought, why take one more chance? I would give anything to sit down and ask the question of Jackie Stewart, right? He started driving when there was a 30% survival rate, like a 70% death rate,. But my God, who wouldn't want seven out of 10 people aren't surviving? So he was incredibly brave. And I don't think that changed. His sense of nurturing Severe also didn't change.
