The Iliad is full of self-reproach, full of accrimination and blames herself for starting the war. Helen arrives on stage in Euripides' Trojan Women as a broken woman who says to Menelaus: "I will praise you if you kill your wife" It's one of the most impressive pieces of rhetoric that Euripides writes all the more impressively because it's in birth. And she feels that she should have had a chance to plead her cause.
