I would guess that probably the type of sexual violence that has gone down in recent decades is the stranger attack. There were some Me Too incidents which were straightforwardly criminal but a lot of what was described as somewhere in between. Often women having... going along with sexual encounters that they didn't especially want to, but which they felt they were being polite or there was misunderstandings based on alcohol. I think one of the ways in which the pill changed sexual culture is that the boundaries have moved very rapidly and young women find it hard to negotiate that. Women who are cowed by this expectation of being sexually open and adventurous and so on can't quite summon up the assertiveness to say no.
