The Life and Times of Johnny Otis

Johnny Otis had his first hit in 1945 with Harlan Nocturne, which featured his friend Bill Douquett's song. After Hall of Nocturne became a hit, he got the opportunity to tour back in the ink spots and exposed him to a wider audience. He was not the typical white man in the music industry, in that he respected his black colleagues as friends and equals.
