What Is Consciousness?

We know consciousness is known subjectively and objectively to be part of the output of functioning human brains. If a human brain gives rise to a mind and consciousness, then if we take a computer and simulate the behaviour of the human brain, we will get a mind within it. It simply is the case that all physical systems are computable. They can be simulated by a universal computer. This is provable, and has been proved. The thing is that this is what we know. You might emotionally feel this cannot be true. But you can stamp your feet as hard as you like."
