The Importance of Eating Together
In the last few centuries, at least in the west, we have watched our society drift away from god into secularism. The words communion and community and companion all come from the same latin root: comb meaning together and penis meaning bread. Meals catalize community. They take friendship and they turn it into family. Without that tie, the ties that bind us grow weak in a secular society. This is not just a lost art in the church, but in society as a whole.
