Is There a Source of Sham?

Women are more sensitive to negative emotion and body shame, for example, than men are. And that's because there is a tremendous amount pressure, social pressure, with regard to evaluation of the manner in which one presents themselves physiologically. Little children, little girls, little boys, can run around naked. They don't care. But some point theyst to care, usually around three. My son really started to become self conscious when he was around three. Didn't seem to have anything to do with what we were doing. My daughter became self conscious in that manner quite a bit later. I can't see that we treated them particularly differently....
