The consumer could be reaching a state of exhaustion due to scarce resources. And we're seeing consumer credit start to roll over as well. So for all those reasons, it's sort of a race to see whether or not the economy enters a recession before the Fed decides to do something about it and move to less restrictive monetary conditions.
