When he was six years old, David made a carbon ark furnace that blew up in his face. He then developed an obsession with electrolysis and making rockets out of aluminum foil. In one explosion, the front door of their shed blew off while they were playing billiards. They had to pull a layer of skin off of the front of their eyes to get rid of pock marks.
