i was pretty young when i got to cornell in the seventies, and i didn't really know why i wanted to be there. And am i just decided, like, i realized that there was this wide open world of stuff i could go do. I think at first it was more than mechanical, like, how woes this thing happen? How do you do it? How does it stay together? And then i realize that that the really more interesting question is, what should this thing be for? What makes a great design? What makes somebody love the object that they have? What makes it good for the task?"
