The Purpose of Introducing New Variables
"It makes sense. It maps to how Figma has thought about the feature itself," he says. "Is it to get us effectively a get out of jail free card when somebody needs to do something that deviates from the system?" Another argument is where you have fixed values for variables or tokens, which have the same hex value in different themes and modes. Some people might be horrified by that idea, but we definitely need those situations.
