Is There a Man of Reason in Western Philosophy?

There's this whole tradition of the man of reason, and that man is a rational animal. I really don't think that's the case. Like you said, the passions we have, they're just useo getting stuff done quickly and with as little effort as possible. And yet, most definitely needs to be taken into account before you can have even a semblance of a complete picture of humanity.
