Mark Steele has a typical southeast London accent. He drops H sounds and uses glottal stops instead of how are you doing. His A sounds, like in the word up, for example, are more like A. Instead of saying bloody hell, it would be like bloody hell, son. And we're talking about authentic English local dialects. This includes the different ways that swearing is used in the UK. There is swearing, I mentioned the F word earlier on there is swearing in this episode. But swearing is a part of the language, and this is real British English after all.
Special Guest Mark Steel joins me to discuss cultural and linguistic differences between the UK and France, plus accents in the UK and a little tour of some places in the UK that you don't know about. Also includes a discussion of swearing and rude language in Britain. What is the R word which you should never say in a specific part of the UK? Listen on to find out.
