i agree with aza that language as we use it to communicate ideas is such a lossy medium, and it is so imprecise. i made this joke on twitter about how you can have the electric guitar be this incredible tool for making noise, but when you unplug the electric guitar, it is just impossibly quiet. Just strumming an unplugged electric guitar is the saddest, tenniest little noise that i almost never hear people use in music. You can't really take away the amplification from the acoustic guitar, you can only make it quieter by plugging into another part of the system. I've got sage that i want to read that i think reflects
