NASA's Dimorphous Asteroid - The First Time Ever?

NASA's dark mission was to slow the space rock's motion as it orbits a larger companion, Didimos. With luck, NASA reckoned, they'd change the asteroid's 11 hour 55 minute orbit by at least a minute. In fact, the change was half an hour, as they announced on Tuesday. Radio waves you can observe nighttime and daytime using radar transmitted at one telescope received at the other. You can actually ping the asteroids such as you look at incoming airplane at an airport to know where it is.
