Bob Greene: What could have, I don't know, there are theories, right? There certainly are theories and there are theories that are also associated with other forms of mass hysteria. He says one being the accidental ingestion of ergot, which is a mold that grows on the stalks of rye crops and can cause hallucinations. Greene: The thing is, it does seem like the victims were having their minds altered somehow.
