i think that it's so important to have these conversations outwardly and openly. We're so terrified of this disease that i tatr instincts sometimes are to do something that actually runs counter to our best interests. There's a study in denmark in the 19 seventies, and there was a group of patho gists who wanted to work out how many people were wandering round with cancer that they didn't know about. So what they did is they had 77 women. They performed double mestectomes on all their breast tissue; none of them had been diagnosed with cancer while they were alive. And after ten years, there was no difference in survival between those two groups whatsoever.
