Is There a Legal Route to a Second Referendum?
All recent Tory Prime Ministers have said they want to keep the union together. Mr Sunak has said he wants to take the SNP on and win the argument for the union. So that suggests a slightly more kind of engaged approach to the debate. But we'll have to see. As things stand, there is no legal route to a second referendum on independence in Scotland and therefore no legal route towards independence. The political bank will continue to rage. It's the policy of Rishi Sunak to keep the Union together. We'll have tosee how far he does that by persuasion or by resistance or by engagement.
