Marie LaVoe's Voodoo Queen
A young woman refused to marry an old man who kept showing up at her home. Her father and the suitor sought out Marie LaVoe, a voodoo queen in New Orleans. She told them that if they followed her instructions exactly, then she would guarantee their wedding. The men did what she said; two weeks later there was a giant wedding ceremony. But when it came time for the couple's first dance, the old man crumpled to the ground.
