James: I think one way you could approach this is by asking questions instead of telling them where they are wrong. You don't understand why they're doing this, right? And that's partially because you understand how version control works. But if you come at it from the perspective of like trying to understand and help them achieve a goal then might be more effective than trying to tell them what their problem is. James: The best solution for me would adopt a deferential attitude when your boss asks you to do things that don't make sense but which was probably achieved anyway.
