The Importance of Deliberating the Iraq War
Robert Kagan: I think if you critique U.S. foreign policy, it's that we are always focused on the last war. How do we avoid for good or for ill every foreign policy decision we have moving forward? He says history should not be ignored just because a new administration comes in with some bright new ideas and new motivations. The failure of so many administrations just to say, "We're not going to do what the last guys did was lousy" is not helpful, he says.
