The Battle of Shabtunar
Two Bedouins were captured by the Egyptians as they prepared to cross the Orontes River at Shabtunar. The Hittites had been camped northeast of Kadesh effectively on the opposite side of the river and ready to attack Ramesses' army. This is when reality struck the Egyptians that the Hittites were not 200 kilometres away in Aleppo, but rather just a few miles north-east with limited defences.
