Irene Cara and the 4G Guide

Irene Cara was the first black woman to win an Oscar in a non-acting category, which is among the most damning statistics in Oscar history. I watched a performance of Irene's on the old David Letterman show in the early 80s. She performed out here on my own from Fame, which was also Academy Award nominated and written by Leslie Gore of It's My Party fame. Nobody here dislikes Leslie Gore and her brother Michael Gore. And he won the Oscar for writing the title song from Fame. In addition to score, I believe so three songs were covered by Mariah Carey - you know she was obsessed with that growing up.
