The Relationship Between Sexual Selection and Brain Size
Charles Darwin argued that sexual selection was just as important to evolution as natural selection. Sexual selection in the evolutionary process says that certain traits are more likely to attract mates, even if those traits aren't directly linked to survival. A 2005 paper published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information observed that bats that practiced less promiscuity were shown to have increased brain mass.
