The Transition to the Metro Card in New York City
Gates: New York is transitioning from the Metro card to Omni. He says you can use a credit card on it or any device, your smartphone or wearable that has contact list capability. The only difference is right now they don't have seven day unlimited and 30 day unlimited, but they do have fair capping, which starts on Monday and ends on Sunday. Gates: London brought in contactless payments in 2012 for their buses in 2014 for the wider network.
