Hess's Motive for Killing Himself?

I agree that it's suspicious that Hess would want to kill himself when it looked like he was finally going to be set free. I don't know what the motive would have been. Maybe he got depressed and had a bad day suffering aches and pains from old age. And on that day, he saw an opportunity to end his suffering ... He decided to take the opportunity and end his life.
