The defence has to hope that they did enough to discredit him. The prosecution, led by mark d. Gacomo, chose not to seek the death penalty. George was angry that shanna wanted a divorce. He didn't want to have to pay alimony or child support. So george supplied knol with the money and tools to murder shana. They pointed out that george left behind a trail of ans that really kind of painted him as the master mind.
