Crossing the Border and Exchange Currency

The chapter is about the speakers' experience crossing the border into Ethiopia and their encounter with the foreign exchange currency. They had to exchange the local currency called 'birds' but were told it was no good. Later, one of the speakers got stopped at immigration and had money confiscated.
