The Love That Dares to Speak Its Name
In 1977, Mary launched a private prosecution against the editor of Gay News for publishing a poem called The Love That Dares To Speak Its Name by James Kirkup. They printed a drawing of Jesus just crucified with a very prominent penis. In the first blasphemy conviction since 1921, the editor was found guilty and given a suspended prison sentence and a fine.
