What on Earth Are They Doing in a Museum?

The Benin Bronzes were taken in 1897 by British forces seeking to establish imperial rule over the region. Since they entered the collection, not one of them has ever been exhibited. Another similar example is a series of sacred tablets from Ethiopia. They are so sacred, they have to be kept out of sight of everyone but priests of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The question begs itself, what on earth are they doing in a museum? Any museum?
