The Great Depression

The Great Depression was just the worst. FDR literally had just been elected a few days into the office. He shuts down all the banks for the weekend, and then he does his famous fireside chat. That convinced people it would be better to put your money in the bank than under your mattress. But that also came in after FDR came into office. So he did what his predecessor, Hebrew Humphrey, could not do for years,. which has turned the crisis. It is the one that has almost, you could say, a happy ending to it, which is the fact that the economy did recover.
