Express2 Pilots Descended Rapidly Through Icing Conditions
All of the Express2 pilots interviewed indicated it was common practice for them to descend rapidly through icing conditions. The NTSB believed that the captain was not confident that the airplane could safely encounter icing conditions, thus his decision to descend at an excessive rate. This procedure was contrary to the manufacturers and Express2's guideline and violated the concept of flying stabilized approaches.
