The Importance of Knowledge Discovery in the Planning Stage

Hayek's idea that knowledge of economic activity was inherently non-aggregatable harmonized with Alchin's ideas on weapon systems analysis. They both pertain to the discovery of knowledge dispersed across time and place. For Hayek, entrepreneurs acted upon local information while defense decision makers must take advantage of knowledge discovery in a similar way. Knowledge of the correct technology does not exist in the planning stage. It only reveals itself in the process of discovery across time and multiple technical approaches.
