The Bee Gees: A Story of Rootlessness
The Bee Gees had finally found their 60s sound, British Invasion fortified by jaunty brotherly harmonies. When Spicks and Specs reached number four on Australia's National Go Set chart in November 1966 they already had tickets for an ocean liner back to England. They were convinced that, after years of slogging through the Aussie music biz, swinging London would do more for their career. Robert Stigwood was a boundlessly energetic, fiercely independent and amazingly successful Australian entertainment in Prosaria. After emigrating to London in the 1950s from his hometown of Adelaide, South Australia, he eventually landed a job with NEM's Enterprises,. which stood for North End Music
