Is There a Trade-Off Between FDI and Healthcare?
I would far rather see us expand the NIH. Let's double the size of the NIH just to start. If we could create a few more new drugs every year, better cancer, better for heart disease, that would be worth far more than better distribution today. There is an invisible graveyard, an invisible graveyard filled with people who would have lived had new drug production been higher. And we don't see that side of the trade off enough. I do think we should spend much, much more time thinking about innovation than we should thinking about distribution.
