There was a major study a couple years ago that just raised a lot of discussion, the very heated debates in the CIC community. They looked at a few hundred patients who were diagnosed with sleep apnea and they were given CPAP or UPPP,. The survival data showed only a very mild increase in survival for people who underwent the PEL operation. If you don't use CPAP, that can be just as bad as undergoing an operation that's only partially successful.
