The Ontology of Groups

According to Locke, individuals acquire property rights by mixing their labor with a property. The other justification of the state according to Locke is of course it has to be consensual. There have also been political philosophers who basically said that states are justified to some extent because they preserve cultures. We seem to agree that there are group rights regardless of whether we think of groups as their own entities or whether it is just a collective of individuals.
