In every known human society today, men commit the vast majority of violent crimes. The men just act out much, much more than women. So for good or ill, it's going to be men doing that stuff. And I think you could probably look at other incidents throughout human history and find it the same. To somehow equate them runs the risk of somehow pathologizing the everyday struggles of millions of men.
