The fall of Saddam Hussein is very much part of the story of what's happened in Syria since 2011. The heightened sectarian conflict within the Middle East, Iraq forms a necessary part of that story as well. I think there's no way to avoid the extent to which the conflict as it developed in Iraq between Sunni and Shia polarized populations across the Middle East.
