Gore spent $1.5 billion on the NSF net, or do this research network used by nerds at universities to upgrade it and commercialize it. He handed over control of these access points to a firm called Equinix who later became internet's biggest landlord. This new model was so popular that pretty much everyone ended up adopting it. But now there are different models across the globe which have been able to expand digital reality.
