People had a very elastic notion of how much shares were worth. Archibald Hutchinson is somebody whom they called a calculator back then. He'd been thinking about the debt since the mid 17 teens. And when he saw the price rising from 110 or 115 at the beginning of the year to 200 as the deal was being discussed and up close to 300 just before it launched, he kept saying what could justify paying that kind of money.
